Ever wonder exactly why soda fizzes and popcorn pops? Reserve a spot in the Test Kitchen and explore the chemistry behind the foods people eat every day. Field trip visitors can mix, blend and concoct like a real food scientist with programs like Gross Science and Popcorn II. A new health-themed offering even offers insight into the “eat your vegetables” mindset by testing the sugar, starch, protein and fat levels in everyday foods. Put food to the test! Small family groups work together preparing an easy nutritious dish. Then, simple chemical tests are preformed to find out what nutrients make up that same dish.
