Dino Matt
Or, should that be Dino Snack?

At 3, Matt Christopher knew exactly what he wanted to be -- a paleontologist. OK, he may not have known at that age he wanted to be a "paleontologist."

Dino Matt with Dino Model
While 3D dino models like this one will be available to Science City visitors, Matt Christopher will be getting his hands on the real deal -- the dinosaur bones inside the Dino Lab.

"I didn't know what you called it; I JUST KNEW I WANTED TO BE A DINOSAUR HUNTER," says the chief paleo of the new Dino Lab.

What first sparked his dino fascination?

"I was amazed something so massive could have ever lived here on earth, and that anything so alien was alive so long ago."

Then Matt admits candidly, "Besides, dinosaurs were a lot like Godzilla."

So, would there have never been a "Dino Matt" working with real dino bones if not for the fire-breathing fictional Godzilla.?

Sure, Matt explains, because "there were always the Flintstones and Land of the Lost -- not to mention, I saw Jurassic Park six times the month it came out ."

As you can probably guess, there's still a lot of the little boy in awe of dinos still alive in this full-grown scientist. HE'S THE "KID" MOST EXCITED ABOUT THE NEW DINO LAB inside Science City, where he'll have his "dream job," studying fossils around the clock -- and in front of the public.

"It's going to be like working in a fish bowl," says the University of Kansas graduate student. "But you can't let yourself get distracted because chipping the bones out of the rock takes focus. The instant you look away you've chipped off a hunk of bone instead of rock. As long as we don't have people tapping on the glass, we'll be OK."

MATT HAS ADVICE FOR ANY YOUNG INSPIRING PALEOS. Get and read all the books you can find about dinosaurs. Study biology and geology diligently.

"Then go to a good school like KU," he says. "And the beauty of it is, if you end up doing your dream job, you never really have to grow up."
